Abstract
Osteochondritis dissecans of the patella is rare. The first case was reported by Rombold in 1936. We reviewed 7 cases of 4 patients from Jan. 1995 to Jan 1996. The followed-up period was from 9 months to 20 months. The age at onset ranged from 15
to 32 years. The centro-lnferior site was the most common site of the lesion(4 cases). Operation was indicated for persistent pain, intra-articular loose bodies and subchondral sclerdosis. All were treated by areated by arthroscopic shaving and
curettage. The results according to the Bentley¢¥s criteria were six excellent and one good. We think that it needs more long followed-up for progressive osteoarthritis.
